A cooler with the body of a baby was discovered in Troup County, Georgia on Sunday.
Georgia cops launched an investigation Sunday after a baby's body was discovered in a cooler on the side of a road.
The Troup County Sheriff's Office said in a news release the child's body was discovered around 3:20 p.m. along Boy Scout Road in LaGrange, located about 90 miles southwest of Atlanta.
"Once on scene, deputies and investigators discovered what appeared to be a deceased newborn child in a portable cooler bag," sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Stewart Smith said.
Witnesses in the area told police the cooler had been on the side of the road near the wood-line for several days -- possibly up to a week.
The cooler is described as light blue in color with pictures of watermelon slices and zips at the top, front and sides.
